Toft O40's beat Davenham
By Simon Hardstaff
The O40’s produced a good all-round display on Friday evening to comprehensively beat the League leaders Davenham. In a game reduced to 18 overs per side after a rain (yes, rain!) delayed start, Toft won the toss and elected to bowl first. Davenham lost early wickets as Scott removed both openers c&b cheaply. The Toft bowlers continued to turn the screw and Davenham struggled against some tight bowling and keen fielding to finish on 94-8. Bowling performances include: Nightingale 4o-0-13; Scott 4o-2-16; Goldstein 4o-1-17; Ellwood 4o-2-30; & Jones 2o-2-13. In reply, Blackburn, making his debut for the O40’s, contributed an important 23 as Toft Knocked off the runs needed inside 16 overs for the loss of just 3 wickets. Other notable batting performances include Thompson who made a well measured 32 no and Jones (14) who closed out the innings with some clinical blows.
