Toft O40's lose to Timperley
By Simon Hardstaff
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Toft reached the end of their innings with a below par total. Only Hardstaff (30 no) Sheldon (14) and Hope (10) reached double figures as Toft were bowled out for 92. In the second innings, the extra pace of Cornes and Sheldon made it difficult for the Timperley batsmen but defending a low total was always going to be difficult. A lack of scoreboard pressure allowed Timperley to carefully work past the required target with overs to spare. A smart catch by Nightingale at backward point helped Sheldon claim the only wicket to fall. Toft were buoyed by Hope’s excellent post-match chicken & chorizo pasta dish and they will be looking to bounce back quickly and spoil Davenham’s unbeaten start to the season next week.
